The Daily Haiku

A world of five - seven - five. At one time daily, now kind of sporadic.

Current theme: X is for Xanadu (Inspired from Samuel Taylor Coleridge's poem Kubla Khan)

For ABC Wednesday

This stately kingdom
Full of fantastic wonders
Awe-inspiring

Walls circled around
With fields of incense and spices
A city golden

Rolling ancient hills
With bright sun-laden forests
Reaching to the sea

The river Alph flowed
Subterranean and cold
Sacred and alone

Yet a chasm splits
The hills in a jagged cut
To reach down below

The eerie wailing
That paints the chasm walls
A woman in sorrow

Loss of a lover
Cursed, gaze of a waning moon
Lost somewhere in time

And the cavern wrenched
The chasm split ever wide
The stones ejected

Dark ground tears the sky
Volcanic fountain of stone
The hidden river rose

Just a brief respite
Then again hidden from sight
But the signs were clear

Kubla, on his throne
Heard a ghostly voice of lore
A distant land: war

Do you know you have inspired me for Round 5! I think I will do a poetry themed one possibly with an illustration!
