The Daily Haiku

A world of five - seven - five. At one time daily, now kind of sporadic.

October 31, 2005

A quiet morning,
Helios has not risen.
No movement, no sound.

Walking through this place,
The Union Cemetary.
Eerie mists hang low.

Faint whisper beckons,
Low, raspy sound of the grave.
The dead start to rise.

There's nowhere to run!
Surrounded by the mindless
and walking corpses.

They're closing in!
I must fight them, stay alive!
I will never fall!

An arm's length away,
Their gutteral moaning - "Brains!"
Damn you, Romero!

Screaming! *Rip* *Chomp* *Tear*
Rending flesh! *Glub* *Crunch* *Gnaw, Gnaw*
*Crunch* *Tear* "Brains! Mmmmm... brains!"

My mint plant sits there,
Crystals of ice on it's leaves.
Live! Little mint plant!

October 27, 2005

A ray of sunlight
clears the cobwebs in my eyes.
I can see again.

October 26, 2005

This insomnia;
It eats at my sanity;
This lack of sleep sucks.

October 25, 2005

Sloshing through the rain;
The air is damp and chilly.
Avoid the puddles.

October 24, 2005

Dread chill of the grave.
A silent stale gust ruffles
my unyielding nerves

October 23, 2005

This cold, chilling wind
assails me as I walk on.
Draw my coat closer.

October 22, 2005

A dry, dead leaf rests
upon my brick windowsill.
Then, it's blown away.

October 21, 2005

Strange scent reminds me,
A Lilac bush that once grew,
Near my Grandma's house.

October 20, 2005

Bound in human flesh,
Dark Gods are summoned from the
Necronomicon.

October 19, 2005

Mournful baying dogs,
A dirge to the fallen souls,
Honoring the dead.

October 18, 2005

Ghostly movements come
to dance in the nighttime skies.
Eerie silhouettes.

October 17, 2005

One for today, two for the weekend past (I had internet problems):

Get out of office,
Redneck Republican Scum!
We want you to go!

This is how I feel,
anti-administration.
Liberals must rise!

Though, sometimes I wish
for chaotic anarchy!
No rules, just freedom!

October 14, 2005

Shadows and hauntings,
The dead drift close to this world.
All Hallow's Eve nears.

October 13, 2005

Bright red Cardinal,
You sing, you perch, and you watch;
Unsuspecting worm.

October 12, 2005

Continuation:
Crushed, smashed, eviscerated;
My poor coffee cup.

October 11, 2005

Early in the morn,
coffee cup sits on the car,
soon to meet it's doom.

I round a corner,
A loud thump, my eyes go wide,
Coffee paints the road.

Tears fill my sad eyes,
No, coffee, no! Boo hoo hoo.
This damn morning sucks.

Here's to you brave little coffee cup!
I hardly knew ye. :(

October 10, 2005

Agnosticism,
Beyond our understanding
is the truth of god.

October 9, 2005

Ancient sansuiga,
I study to understand.
I will be that good!

October 8, 2005

Pouring rain outside,
Remnants of a hurricane?
We needed the rain.

October 7, 2005

A humid feeling.
The air is damp and heavy,
expecting the rain.

October 6, 2005

Squirrel scampers by,
Searching for fallen walnuts
to hide them away.

October 5, 2005

Pumpkin colored sky,
Another sunrise arrives.
Cool air refreshing.

October 4, 2005

Extended weekend
has now finally ended.
Back to boring work.

Some highlights of my weekend (in Haiku form, of course):

Went down to the beach,
Very low tide, with thousands
of snails everywhere!

Cool and damp bay night,
yet, the sky is crystal clear.
I've seen shooting stars!

Blue Heron perches,
Resting on the lighted pole.
Sea Gulls stay away.

Great White Egret hunts,
Stalking the waters for fish,
Quick stab and she eats.
